Create a Community
Inspired by the success of the Open Knowledge Foundation’s Code for DE project, Code for Peace is your opportunity to harness the power of technology for a greater cause—peace. Just as Code for DE united diverse communities to tackle local challenges through innovative tech solutions, Code for Peace aims to mobilise activists, tech enthusiasts, and social innovators to create digital tools that promote peace and social harmony.
In this initiative, we're building a collaborative space where passionate individuals can connect, brainstorm, and develop projects that make a tangible impact. Whether you're an experienced developer, a civic-minded activist, or someone with a fresh perspective, Code for Peace welcomes you to join our growing community. Together, we’ll transform ideas into action, creating apps, platforms, and tools that foster understanding, resolve conflicts, and promote a more peaceful world.
Be part of a movement where technology meets social good. Let’s code for change. Let’s Code for Peace.
People Powered Peacebuilding
Perhaps you're a peacebuilder with limited digital skills. There's so much you can contribute to setting the agenda, influencing grassroots digital projects, and having meaningful conversations about digital peacebuilding with a diverse group of people in a fun, dynamic, and engaging environment.
Creating communities mixing civic tech, open data and peacebuilding
The meetups are set to last 2 hours, consisting of exchange and discussions and occasional inputs by guest speakers. The first meetup will take place within the facilities of the Austrian Centre for Peace in the 4th district. The following meetings will be moved to rather informal settings – most likely cafés and bars around the area – and proceed in the afternoon/evening hours.
No barriers
All digital skills are welcome. If you're interested in social or civic tech but have no experience in peacebuilding, you're encouraged to join us. You can learn how to use your skills for not just for social good, but peace!
